FitWorth Activity Grants make running fun

Did you know that FitWorth provides support to local schools and community centers in the form of Activity Grants? We have donated thousands of dollars worth of salad bars and playground, recess, and PE equipment.

One of our latest grants was to a local running club that needed help keeping track of their running miles. The old school way is to give children a handful of popsicle sticks and have the children drop one in a bucket each time they completed a lap. The teacher would then have to count all of the sticks and would have no idea how many laps each child completed.

From the Club Sponsor: “Well, we started using EZ Tally this week in Running Club! It is super easy to set up, and the kids really love it. Better yet, I automatically saw a difference in their motivation. Some of the kids who “lolligag” a bit when we are practicing were really picking up their pace, trying to get around and scan in another lap.

Before having this, I would use different techniques to count laps always trying to be creative, to keep the runner interested, and that was fairly successful, but it will be super nice for that to automatically be in digital, syncable format instead of stuck on my paper chart on my clipboard.
PS When you scan your lap a pirate voice confirms it and calls you a scallywag and stuff, its pretty funny. ”
